Geologist:- 121 Posts

  • Qualification/ Eligibility Criteria:- Eligible applicants applying for the position of geologist should have master degree in geological science or geological or applied geology or Geo-exploration or mineral exploration or engineering geology or marine geology or Earth science and resource management or oceanography and coastal areas studies or petroleum geo-sciences or petroleum exploration or geo-chemistry or geological technology or geophysical technology from a university incorporated by an act of the Central or state legislature in India.
  • Candidate Salary detail:- The salary of the applicant applying for the position of geologist will be according to rules and regulations of Union Public service commission (UPSC).
  • Age Limit (In yrs.):- The age of the eligible applicant applying for the position of geologist should not be less than 21 years and should not have the attained the age of 32 years on the first day of the month of January of the year in which the examination is to be held (i.e. as on 1st January 2016). He / She must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1984 and not later than 1st January 2016.
  • Mode of Selection:- The selection of the eligible applicant applying for the position of geologist will be on the basis of written examination and personal interview.

Geophysicists:- 56 Posts

  • Qualification/ Eligibility Criteria:- Eligible applicants applying for the position of geophysicist should have M.Sc. in physics or applied physics or M.Sc. (marine in Marine geo-physics or integrated M.Sc. in exploration geo-physics or M.Sc. in applied geo-physics from a university incorporated by an Act of parliament or state legislature in India.
  • Candidate Salary detail:- The salary of the applicant applying for the position of geophysicist will be according to rules and regulations of Union Public service commission (UPSC).
  • Age Limit (In yrs.):- The age of the eligible applicant applying for the position of geophysicist should not be less than 21 years and should not have the attained the age of 32 years on the first day of the month of January of the year in which the examination is to be held (i.e. as on 1st January 2016). He / She must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1984 and not later than 1st January 2016.

  • Qualification/ Eligibility Criteria:- Eligible applicants applying for the position of chemist should have M.Sc. in chemistry or applied chemistry or analytical chemistry from a university incorporated by an act of parliament or state legislature or other educational institutes establishment by an act of India.
  • Candidate Salary detail:- The salary of the applicant applying for the position of chemist will be according to rules and regulations of Union Public service commission (UPSC).
  • Age Limit (In yrs.):- The age of the eligible applicant applying for the position of chemist should not be less than 21 years and should not have the attained the age of 32 years on the first day of the month of January of the year in which the examination is to be held (i.e. as on 1st January 2016). He / She must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1984 and not later than 1st January 2016.
  • Mode of Selection:- The selection of the eligible applicant applying for the position of chemsit will be on the basis of written examination and personal interview.

Junior Hydro geologists:- 02 Posts

  • Qualification/ Eligibility Criteria:- Eligible applicants applying for the position of junior hydrgeologists should have master degree in geology or applied geology or marine geology from a university incorporated by an Act of the Central or state legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as universities.
  • Candidate Salary detail:- The salary of the applicant applying for the position of junior hydrgeologists will be according to rules and regulations of Union Public service commission (UPSC).
  • Age Limit (In yrs.):- The age of the eligible applicant applying for the position of chemist should not be less than 21 years and should not have the attained the age of 35 years on the first day of the month of January of the year in which the examination is to be held (i.e. as on 1st January 2016). He / She must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1984 and not later than 1st January 2016.
  • Mode of Selection:- The selection of the eligible applicant applying for the position of junior hydrgeologists will be on the basis of written examination and personal interview.

Application fee:- Interested and eligible applicants applying for the position are required to pay application fee Rs 200/- either by depositing the money in any branch of state bank of India by cash or by using net banking facility of the state bank of India or by using visa card / master card / debit card. Schedule caste categories candidates (SC) / Schedule tribe categories candidates (ST) are exempted from application fee.

Age Relaxation:- The upper age of the eligible applicant applying for the position is relaxable for the following specified categories:-
i) By 5 years for candidates belonging to ST communities.
ii) By 5 years for candidates belonging to SC communities.
iii) By 3 years for candidates belonging to OBC communities.
iv) By 10 years for candidates belonging to PH communities.

General Instruction:-

  1. Applicant will be eligible to get the benefit of community reservation only in case the particular caste to which the applicant belong to included in the lists of reserved communities issued by the Central government.
  2. The test will be of two hours duration and will carry a maximum of 100 marks and the medium of the question paper will be English only.
  3. The test will be objective type question with multiple choice answers.
  4. Shortlisted applicants would be asked to submit the certificates
  5. The applicants are directed to undertake the CBRT at their own risk.

Union Public service commission (UPSC), the royal commission on the supreme civil services in India under the chairman – ship of lord lee, which submitted its report in 1924, recommended the setting up of the public service commission. This led to the establishment of the first public service commission on 1st October 1926 under the chairman – ship of Sir Ross Barker.
